Essential if you use an adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator. With the engine at idle, Fuel Pressure can be set
accurately and easily (at the track for example). Under some circumstances (during very hot weather for example) - your car
may be
running lean (at the circuit) and an increase in fuel pressure can then compensate by supplying additional fuel. The
opposite can also be useful to pass emissions and get the car through your country (or
region's) annual statutory test (by
reducing the fuel pressure). The VDO gauge comes with angle adapters to help it clear a closed bonnet (especially if the engine mounts are worn). It is easy to fit and the threads are already coated with special thread sealing tape to prevent any fuel leaks after fitting. Comes with full fitting instructions and can be easily fitted in about 10-15 minutes. Pressure reading has a scale with readings in psi (Pounds per Square Inch). 15 psi = 1.05 bar. Standard fuel pressure is 2.5 bar on the 944 Turbo. |
Even if you don't have an adjustable FPR, the gauge is still useful in ensuring your car has a properly functioning
fuel pressure regulator. Any loss in fuel pressure can create a dangerous lean condition which can result in a blown head
gasket under hard use. It also looks good, adding to the under bonnet package of your car.
